About Bruce Ryan

Dr Bruce Ryan is a Senior Research Fellow at the Social Informatics Research Group, within the Applied Informatics Subject Group, within the School of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment at Edinburgh Napier University. He blogs about his academic work at bruceryan.info, and tweets via @bruce_research. His research interests include information literacy and digital engagement in hyperlocal government, information avoidance and other aspects of library and information science. He is secretary of the Scottish Media and Information Literacy Community of Practice.

Outwith his academic work, Bruce is minutes secretary, web-weaver and IT supporter for three Edinburgh community councils (Leith CentralLeith Harbour & NewhavenNew Town & Broughton) and an active member of the LeithChooses participatory budgeting steering group.
